The Archiver clears the emails you never open. Newsletters, notifications and noise leave your inbox a day or three after they land, unless you touch them first. You write the rules in plain words; it does the tidying and logs every action with one-click undo. Find it under Tactics → The Archiver.

When it runs

Two steps. When an email arrives, The Archiver judges it against your rules and, if one matches, queues it with a countdown. Every 15 minutes it acts on whatever countdown has run out. It re-reads your settings at that moment, so turning the tactic off, removing a rule or lengthening a wait changes what happens to mail already queued. If it cannot tell whether you touched an email, it leaves it alone rather than guess. Your inbox must be connected.

Settings

Under Your rules, write up to ten rules. There are none to begin with; nothing is queued until you write one. If you reply, forward, flag, move, label or start a reply to an email before the time is up, it stays exactly where it is.

What you get

Three tabs:
  • Up next lists every email waiting on a countdown, with the rule it matched, the plan (for example Archive in 2 days) and why. Keep settles one email without touching the rule.
  • Activity lists what happened: Archived, Moved to Trash, Marked unread, Put back, or the reason it left an email alone, such as Kept, you replied or Kept, you flagged it. Put back returns any email.
  • Settings & Info.
The Archiver is one of two tactics that change your mailbox without asking first (the other is The Organizer). It only ever acts on mail matching a rule you wrote, after the wait you chose, and Up next shows you everything before it happens.
